Forest City Community Recreational Opportunities –

Pickleball

Pickleball is a great recreational sport that can be enjoyed by all ages. The sport is becoming very popular and is a great way to meet new people, have fun, socialize, and get a little workout in all at the same time.

We encourage and welcome anyone that would like to learn to play to join us during the summer months on Monday and/or Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. at the tennis/pickleball courts on S. 11th St. (across from Bolstorff Field).  For more information, check out the local Pickleball facebook page or email Alec Sundermann atsundermann@hotmail.com.  Although this is not organized under Forest City Parks and Recreation, we encourage you to contact the organizer to join in the fun.

Forest City Disc Golf Course

Forest City Disc Golf Course is located a few blocks east of downtown in two of our city parks (Pammel Park and East Woods Park), which are separated by the Winnebago River. The course is maintained by Forest City Parks and Recreation.  There are several Tournaments held in Forest City throughout the warming months.  Contact Forest City Parks and Rec office more more details.

The course is 21 poles, that offer challenging blue tees for the advance player, as well as the easier red tees for the new or recreational player. White tees for the intermediate players. You will get to use a wide variety of shots to complete your round as the course has a wide variety of terrain from open and level fairways with a few trees to elevation changes in wooded areas, as well as a few water hazards on seven of the poles.
Local contacts:  Dan Sarasio Meyer, dsmeyer@mchsi.com and Brian Voss, bvoss@winnebagoind.com

Recreational tees (red) average 200′ in length (Longest 400′ / Shortest 145′)
Intermediate tees (white) average almost 300′ (Longest 550′)
Advanced tees (blue) average just over 350′ long (Longest 720′).

Enter the park off J Street and Tee number 1 will be located just south of the kiosk along the walking path by the little brown building or approx. 200′ North West of the swinging bridge.
